Paper Moon Craftique Update...

Thanks to all the vendors who came and set up very early in the morning with their wonderful hand crafted items. Everyone had such amazing things to sell and I know it took many hours to produce all of them. Thank you again for participating!

NEW! Basic Grey...

Little Black Dress Papers.

Gorgeous. Which goes without saying...lacy, black, & even some leopard print, all double-sided cardstock papers.
Some fun embellishments.

Picadilly is Basic Grey's other line we received!
This line is full of fun farmgirl patterns. Reminescent of Grandma's flour sack aprons, kitchen curtains and wallpaper.

We also have the 6x6 paper pads in each design, some cute cling mount rubber stamps, and chipboard embellishments.

The better the project!

Some Fun Classes This Past Week...
It's hard to keep up with all of them. Last Saturday we had two great classes going on at the same time. Upstairs in our little Studio 34 was Shirley the Artsy Fartsy Fairy and her Haunted Halloween Spider House! As you can see by this fun mess that this was the class to get your hands a little bit sticky in. Look at all the fun things they had to work with. Everyone's little haunted house was amazing! Shirley has her annual Christmas Countdown class coming up on November 19th. That is sure to be another classic fun filled class. Check out our Class Page on the website for more details!

Downstairs in the Classroom...
We had Jenny aka the Polka Dot Pixie teaching her Spooky Love class.
This was another fun messy class! Paper clay and glue and paints and glitter.
Everyone's spooky little couple turned out so cute!
Jenny's next class the Snowpixie Cottage will be on December 10th, that's on our website as well.

This month on Wednesday's we've had Jack & Cat show students tricks of the trade with BEESWAX! Another fun and definitely messy class~ and the outcome has been amazing!
This Wednesday is their last of the Beeswax Open Lab for the month and it's already half full, so if you want to save a spot for yourself you'd better call in quick!

October 14th, and will start at 7:00 P.M.
Mesa's Second Friday's Theme this month is Zombies vs. Robots and keeping with this theme, our swap's theme will be Zombies or Robots! Either one, it really doesn't matter,
I like them both.

Join the Zombie fun this 2nd Friday, October 14th with our neighbors at Evermore Nevermore! Bring two cans of food or $2 to donate to the Mesa United Food Bank, you will be able to get your own piece of unique art painted live by a real undead Zombie artist! This is going to be a show so mind-blowing that a zombie would never consider eating a brain that has viewed these images! YIKES!

Camera Issues...

I don't know why...
But I am forever having camera issues!

The store camera doesn't like to down load pictures anymore, so we started using the card in Kevynn's camera. That worked for awhile and now the card doesn't like to be switched from camera to camera. We have been resorting to using her camera most of the time, but she isn't always here and sometimes she doesn't have her camera with her.
I have a personal camera but I usually I don't know where my camera is, or I leave it at home when I need it. The photo card is super small and I needed an adapter so I could put my card into the computer. That worked for awhile too, but now not so much. I'm not sure why, but the computer isn't reading the card anymore.
What happened to the days of simple photo taking? I guess it went by the wayside with technology and instant gratification. I would love to have all the cameras in the above picture...

The point of my story is I can't always post photos of all the things happening in the shop. For example this weekend we had some AMAZING CLASSES! They were packed and full of fun! Everyone loved the Jack & Cat classes~ they received rave reviews.
I even remembered my camera, and remembered to take pictures I just can't download them now. The daily life of a shop owner is always challenging.

Last Night's Fashion Show...

Meet "Crafty Girl"~ She's a crafting super hero!

Notice the fine detailing on her top with ruffled crepe paper. She is also wearing necklaces designed by Tim Holtz and Jack & Cat Curio! Topping off Crafty Girl's top is a crepe paper rose and ribbon rose.
Mystic Paper's own Kevynn is the designer of this couture paper dress and her sister Alex is the model. There was a Sci-Fi fashion show for Downtown Mesa's Second Friday over at the 101 Gallery. the fashion show was sponsored by our friends at Evermore Nevermore! We had to make up our own character and we came up with Crafty Girl!

Crafty Girl has a pair of Super Scissors~( shocking isn't it?) they have super powers and can cut down villains with one swoop of their blades. They are also very handy for cutting paper.

You can find Crafty Girl making collages up and down Main Street from items she finds along the sidewalk or glittering the walls at Mystic Paper...that is, when she's not too busy fighting villains.

Isn't the back of this dress SO ADORABLE? The skirt is made from wrap sheets from Cavallini.
Alex also has some vintage seam binding flowing through her hair. There's nothing better than a frilly super hero...

We had such a fun week last week with all of the out of town Creative Escapers! We are recovering from all the crazy fun and putting NEW product out on the shelves and reordering all of our staples. This also means...you guessed it~ moving things around. Nothing stays in one place long at Mystic Paper. It's time to reorganize and re-merchandise all kinds of things.

Tim Holtz Delivery...

This is just about the coolest tools I have ever used. I have been trying to get a hold of these since I saw something similar at CHA a couple of years ago.

This is Tim Holtz' Idea-ology Drill Punch. It has 2 different size holes and it goes through metal like butter! It's the perfect tool for anyone who uses metal in their projects. These will work great on bottle caps and you can easily add a hole in a metal piece to add another jump ring.
You can try mine when you come into the shop, just ask and you can drill punch away!

A little bit of this and a little bit of that!

First we'll start with a little gardening! We are featuring Cavallini's NEW Floral Ephemera sheet with all things floral.

It's always fun to see what Kevynn & Wendy come up with when I give them a little project.
This is Kevynn's interpretation of a flower garden~so cute!

Throw in some flowers, ribbons, collection packs, floral ephemera, walnut stained tags with a vintage millinery flower, a little bit of Crafty Secrets and there you have it!

This is Wendy's latest endeavor, I have wanted to make these album baskets for at least 5 years and they're almost ready for use~ I'm just waiting to find the handles! Wendy really got into this little project and went crazy with some of my album covers that I've been collecting. They are really cute, I've been thinking that when we have huge crowds on special occasions it will be a great way to do some gift drawings. Clever eh? Whoever has the Frank Sinatra album...come on down~ you're the winner!

We have also been busy making one of a kind gift bags. These are really fun little unique bags that are perfect for gift giving.

We are in love with Jenni Bowlin's Haven paper line! They are all double-sided cover stock, so that means you'll have to decide which gorgeous side to use.

We are also continuing to carry her Black and Creme line of papers along with all the new additions that she keeps creating. I love this top paper with the school children~ some of them have such hysterical expressions on their faces and it's a fun paper to use too!

We now have the Metal Effects Iron Paint & Rust Activator~ YIPPEE!
The famous duet of Jack & Cat Curio use this product on many items, the metal bird collage is one of them.

Did you know that we have the largest selection of the Tim Holtz Ideology line of products?
So cool! I know I don't get out much to shop other stores, but we do have the largest selection that I have seen in any shop in the area. As I am typing this we just got a delivery of more of his items! I can see light bulbs, drill punch and even paper stashes.

This is a new company the Bottle Cap Company...catchy name...cool stuff.
The bottle caps that we have in are 1 inch and we also have the clear epoxy stickers to go over the tops. Super simple. Later we'll be getting in some of their other product that will fit right in the bottle caps and the best part is that they are vintage style!

Here are some random class photos, since my camera was at first missing and then when I did find it, I took three pictures and then the battery died. The first two were taken with my archaic cell phone.
Last Wednesday's Technique Class was Paints & Gel Mediums...

Love that cell phone quality, and Lisa and Mike's expressions! You can tell they were having fun!

A Little Spring Cleaning

We moved just about everything!

If it wasn't attached to a wall, we moved it.
We have opened up the shopping area and now everyone will have room to look at product and carry their buckets, even when we are really busy!
This is a photo mid-everything, when all the furniture gets moved into the middle of the floor and there really isn't a plan as to where anything goes. It is definitely the type of rearranging where we have to move one thing and see if it will work where we put it~ and then we might have to move it somewhere else! So it always takes awhile to finish.

This is the new front area in front of the register...I could look at this all day!

A little bit of pretty.

Cavallini has a new home at the front of the shop, and we should have some NEW designs in soon.

This is what we call the "Bird House" our lovely shelf that we purchased years ago from Memory Lane~ We miss that store.

This is the wide open area we now have looking to the front from the back. Look at that beautiful 1880's floor!

A little corner in the back, full of vintage suitcases.

We have the NEW line from Jenni Bowlin and rearranged that little section too.

This idea came to me this morning when I remembered to bring this mirror to the shop...it is perfect with the Jenni Bowlin silhouette painted on it. Wendy did such a great job painting!

Want to learn the Ranger Ink way? Come and join certified Ranger Educator Michael Jack Putman for a Distress Ink session. In this two hour class you will be introduced to several master techniques for getting fantastic results with this product. Everything from shading and blending, piece edging, aged crumbling, non-crumbling, photo tinting, and more.

This class is limited to 8 students. All supplies will be provided. Please call the shop to sign up.

Le Cirque Altered Lantern
Saturday, March 19th
1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M.

In this class you will alter a cigar box into a circus themed decor piece with a working hobby light creating a unique lantern. Each student will be able to tell their rich story using Graphic 45 Le Cirque papers, chipboard tags, and our own personal collection of circus ephemera. Methods taught include how best to re-purpose everyday objects into altered treasures by using paint, ink, sanding effects, layers and assorted hardware.
All materials will be provided.

We All Love Vintage...

Prima has come out with some of the most adorable charms called Vintage Trinkets. Just for the bird lovers (Lola) and Key & Lock lovers, we ordered TONS of these. They are so adorable I can barely control myself.

Another great thing that Prima always comes out with~ (besides flowers) is vintage looking TRIM! They do such a wonderful job and we always get to have some of the most beautiful trim in the market place. Lucky us!

Here are our favorite flowers that Prima makes, their Essentials~ they are always available in such great colors. We think they have out done themselves this time.

Lovely Ribbon flowers~ These are so pretty, you can't pass them up! Oohhhh....Aahhhh!

Lille~ it's here at Mystic Paper!

As you can imagine it's more beautiful in person than in the photos, and I hate to say it but if you want any of the gorgeous paper tape you'd better hurry in, it's everyone's favorite and we are low already. (If you wait you'll miss out and have to wait for the reorder)
It arrived last week, and apparently I forgot to mention it here in blog land. Oops!

The Chipboard Alphabet is a fun mix of designs on each of the letters and the Paper Tapes...well, they speak for themselves.

Lille Paper Pads in 6x6 and the 8x8 size~ there's the perfect size of paper for everyone.

The Lille Paper Clips are very cool, we love the colors of these.
We also have some Book Kits and some of the beloved "Old School" 7 Gypsies Classic Paper Pads.

Here are the Mini Library Drawers, or ATC Drawers~ which ever name you want to call them they are a great size with many different uses.

Trash to Treasure Class...

From Trash to Treasure, from beginning to end, these ladies had fun in class. With tons of work to do, each of these beautiful wreaths were very unique and ready for a special place to show it off on the wall! They used recycled shabby frames, recycled book pages, vintage buttons, and a little bling.

A few finishing touches and they were gorgeous! Thanks for the great class everyone.

Valentine's Day at Mystic Paper...

♥We searched high and low for some cute vintage Valentine's Paper and we've finally found it!
Cavallini has come out with some wonderful Valentine's Paper, Valentine's Card Sets, and Glittered Valentine Post Cards.

Changing the Shop Around...

It's that time of year, when things get moved around. This time we move the back Kitchen Section to the front of the shop and created the back section with what was left over!
At least it seems that way...I did actually have this envisioned before we started.

A little corner of our shop is now an Inspirational Luscious Vintage Serene Array of Wonderful Papers and Ephemera.
But I don't think we'll call it that. I want to mention that the catalog pages were my 10 year old son's idea, I think he's catching on to merchandising.

Vintage Catalog Pages, Vintage Travel Cases, Ephemera, Rub-Ons, Mannequin Cut Books, Vintage Photo Frames, and Vintage Glass & Shell Buttons.
It's our new favorite section of the shop!

Now for the front of the shop...
If you didn't know already, we LOVE the Kit Kat Klocks! We are now selling them.
We decided that a better way to display all of the clocks was to highlight them with the new October Afternoon Line~ Modern Homemaker. So that means we brought most of the Kitchen Section from the back corner of the shop up to the very front of the shop by the front door.

Almost all of our Vintage Kitchen items are for sale. If it has a tag on it, it's for sale.
Not the table and chairs!

We also just received the latest issue of Mary Jane's Farm and it is a BEAUTY! You will love this issue, we just put it out today and have already sold 6! This issue has a little bit of everything.
If you don't love this issue, I'll eat a bug. Okay, not really, but I know you'll love it as much as we do!

Fashion Forward Barbies...

High School students from the East Valley Institute of Technology joined in on the Barbie fun here at Mystic Paper. The Head of the Fashion Department at EVIT came into the shop and saw the Altered Barbies that we have displayed and took the idea back to her students. The students were required to alter 2 Barbies as part of their grade.

They are so creative, I can't decide which one is my favorite. The EVIT student's Altered Barbies are on display NOW! Come by to check them out and try to pick out your own favorite!

Thanks students from EVIT, they are all very creative and inspiring!

If you are interested in doing our next Altered Barbie Swap, the Barbies will be due no later then Thursday, January 27th.
The unveiling will be on Saturday, January 29th at 11:00 A.M.
So get busy~ We can't wait to see what everyone comes up with this time!

Kit Kat Klocks!

Don't these fun Kit Kat Klocks take you back? I remember my Mom's friend Priscilla had one of these in her kitchen and I always wanted one. So now, after years of anticipation they are here at Mystic Paper! These are the colors we have in so far, the Classic Black, the Miss Kitty Pink, and the Candy Cane Red Kitty Klock. Love them!

We also have the incredibly fun kitchen paper line by October Afternoon. "Modern Homemaker". This line is amazing...

All papers are double sided, The little die cut House is so adorable~ you just gotta see the other side!

We just got in a shipment of Paperclay today.
If you need any help with ideas about what to do with it, there are many blogs and websites that will share ideas with you. Our personal favorite paperclay master is non other than Jenny Hernandez! Check out the featured article about Jenny Hernandez on Jenny Doh's Crescendoh! blog.

Here are some of the Snow Pixies from last Saturday's class with Jenny Hernandez, aka the Polka Dot Pixie! What is so great about Jenny's classes is that you will learn something new each class and everyone's turns out so cute and so different from the next. I wish I had photos of all the little snow pixies but some folks finished really fast. So here they are, so cute and sparkly, and sweet!

Karen created this little ice cream box snow pixie~She brought her vintage ice cream box and made the banner for her little snow pixie to hold. Isn't it so creative?

They all turned out great~Love them all! Thanks again Jenny for such a wonderful class, and thanks to everyone who took it with me. Keep an eye out for Jenny's next class at Mystic Paper~ it will be an advanced class in February...details to follow.
